1. Deck the Harbour at Darling Harbour

This year’s Christmas festivities in Darling Harbour are not to be missed. Back-to-back Christmas events and family attractions include the Darling Harbour Christmas Festival, the iconic GIANT Bauble installation, the Sky Castle interactive light installation, Christmas pedal boats, the Golden Light Tunnel at Darling Square, free kids’ activities, Christmas parties, Christmas lunches, Christmas giveaways, magical underwater dining experiences, and much more!
2. Sydney Christmas Fair, Entertainment Quarter

When: 4th-5th, 11th – 12th and 18th-19th December 2021

This December, the Sydney Christmas Fair will take over Moore Park’s Entertainment Quarter for three jam-packed weekends. The extremely family-friendly Sydney Christmas Fair is a massive explosion of carnival entertainment, games, Santa photographs, elf workshops, a Gingerbread House party, and much more!
3. Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular

The Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular, located on the outskirts of Sydney, is well worth the trek up north if you want to enjoy a genuine Christmas fantasy with your children. With over three million lights, Hunter Valley Gardens has the largest and most beautiful lighting show in the Southern Hemisphere.
The entire family will feel the spirit and joy of the holiday season as they explore the millions of incredible lights, ride amazing rides, eat gourmet food and beverages, and watch roving entertainment such as carolers, Disney characters, fairies, and Bravissimo and The Amazing Jono on Friday and Saturday nights.
4. Woolworth Carols in the Domain

Woolworths Carols in the Domain, Sydney’s favourite, will return in 2021 to commemorate its 39th year! Make a note of Saturday, December 18th in your calendar to celebrate Christmas with the stars at the 39th Woolworths Carols in the Domain. The Carols will be a star-studded night, as always, with some of Australia’s best performers gracing the stage, including Samantha Jade, Phil Burton, Penny McNamee, Mark Vincent, and co-hosts Natalie Barr and David Koch.
5. Christmas in the City
Where: Martin Place and Pitt Street Mall, Sydney CBD

It’s one of the first events to start off the Christmas eve party in Sydney! From the 27th of November to the 31st of December, a kaleidoscope of colours will dazzle Martin Place, beginning with the lighting of Sydney’s largest Christmas tree! The stunning Martin Place Christmas Tree, which is decorated with over 110,000 LED lights, a 3.4-metre colour-changing star, and 330 handmade glossy ornaments, is the focal point of Sydney’s Christmas in the City.
It’s one of the first events in Sydney to kick off the holiday season! A kaleidoscope of colours will amaze Martin Place from the 27th of November to the 31st of December, commencing with the lighting of Sydney’s largest Christmas tree! 6. Santa Photos at The Grounds of Alexandria

If you like Santa and you like the grounds, combine the two this year with a customised Santa photo at The Grounds of Alexandria. The grounds will be decked out in lots of Christmas colour and happiness, and the man in red will be there with that big old smile on his face, ready to grant all of your Christmas wishes. Bookings are required!
7. Mosman Christmas Night Markets

Christmas in Sydney isn’t complete without some market shopping! The Mosman Christmas Night Markets will return in 2021, illuminating Mosman Square and Village Green with unique Christmas treasures, delectable snacks, carols, and more.
8. High Tea with Santa

In Sydney, this is what we call a sumptuous Christmas extravaganza! At the QVB’s High Tea with Santa event, you may record your own photo memories with Santa or have the opportunity to have a professional photographer document the occasion.
9. Santa’s FunFair, Rouse Hill Town Centre

Santa’s FunFair is returning to Rouse Hill Town Centre in 2021! The Christmas spectacle will feature a carnival feel with thrilling attractions such as Australia’s only Double Decker Carousel, Storm, Pirate Ship, Snow TeaCup, Mini Chairs, and Turbo Toboggan, as well as Bungee trampolines and sideshow games. Of course, Santa will be present to bring Christmas happiness.
10. Lights of Christmas at St Mary’s Cathedral

When: 9 to 25 December 2021

The Lights of Christmas at St Mary’s Cathedral, one of Sydney’s favourite free Christmas traditions, is returning in 2021! Come celebrate this year’s theme, “HOME,” with amazing shimmering lights, visual effects, fantastic soundscapes, Christmas music, and more.
The choirs will amuse the spectators beginning at 7.30 p.m., followed by the lighting show at 8.30 p.m. The Lights of Christmas show at St. Mary’s Cathedral lasts 15 minutes and is replayed several times throughout the evening.
11. Christmas Dining Under the Sea
Where: SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, Darling Harbour

Throughout the months of November and December, you may enjoy a Christmas feast unlike any other – under the sea! WaterLIFE Sydney Aquarium is currently accepting reservations for festive and non-themed private dinner experiences beneath the sea. 12. Santa’s Studio at The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

On December 20, Santa’s Studio will open at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, where your young elves can make lovely Christmas crafts and gifts for their family and friends. Children will be introduced to a variety of creative techniques and natural resources in order to create unique gifts for their parents and grandparents. Costumes are encouraged!
13. Love Actually in Concert

If you think Christmas isn’t complete without seeing Love Actually, you’re in luck this year! Love Actually in Concert is coming to Sydney in 2021 to make the holiday season a little more romantic. This is your opportunity to experience all the romance developing like never before, with a live orchestra singing the evocative popular soundtrack while the film is projected onto a massive screen.
14. Tinseltown Sydney
Where: Wonderland Bar, Potts Point

Cost: Prices start from $15 for a 90-minute session.
Ho-Ho- Tinseltown has returned to Sydney, so hold my drink! The Christmas in July event, which did not take place in July (thank you, Covid! ), has been rescheduled to take place in December. Tinseltown Sydney is an adults-only event that is the ideal date night where you can dress up in your Christmas finest and boogie the night away to your favourite anthems while drinking delicious mulled wine and other treats.
15. Moonlight Cinema
Where: Belvedere Amphitheatre, Centennial Park
When: 9 December 2021 until 3 April 2022.

Add viewing Christmas movies beneath the stars to your December plans, as Moonlight Cinema returns to Sydney with a superb roster of Christmas films to enjoy from the comfort of Centennial Park. To start off the holiday season, see The Grinch, Love Actually, The Holiday, or other oldies like Dirty Dancing, Suicide Squad, and The Greatest Showman.
Pack your picnic baskets, because this popular outdoor movie experience is returning to Centennial Park in December, as well as a second pop-up site in Western Sydney Parklands. Moonlight Cinema has returned, and we’re embracing the return of movies outside, squeezing the last of the steaming hot summer nights.
The Centennial Parklands site is open from December 9 to April 3, while the Lizard Log theatre is open from December 16 to January 30 in Western Sydney Parklands.
